@Evie: Yes it is unusual as the sun sets with warm colours. May be it was not so close to sunset. Also I was playing with the white balance. That made it more blue.

Besides, as I have said, it is you people who I observe and learn!
I never shot portraits as I felt (and to an extent its true) people hide their real expressions in front of the camera. After looking at your beautiful photos, I guess I should give it a try.
